Suddenly a new cat leaps into the fray. Dewheart glimpsed brown fur before a blow to the head sent him reeling.

So Nightfall was surprised when she heard paw-steps from her right.She turned and saw a strange brown cat his fur bristling. What are you doing in my den? he demanded

Will you just be quiet? He asked Foxpaw. I'm just trying to help. The strange cat aims another blow at Dewheart.

The stranger started when he scented thunder clan. Ummm... he said. I was just leaving. And slipped away into the undergrowth.

The stranger crouched low as if in defeat. When the teeth around his neck loosened he sprang up and threw the other cat off him and stood panting.

The loner was silent through the entire exchange. Umm... he spoke up. I think I'll go hunting. Then he slowly backed out of the cave.

The stranger sighed. I guess I have to tell you He said. Back when I lived with other cats I was called Rougeclaw.

Suddenly the brown loner padded back. "Umm" he said "I heard everything and I'm really sorry for you but a patrol is coming and I'd prefer if I weren't caught."

"Yes" he replied cautiously. "I was before..." his expression grew dark.

"Stoneclan. You probably haven't heard of it. But that's because it was destroyed by..." Rougeclaws story was interrupted by a fierce barking outside.

The loner dashed up a tree

"I don't know" replied Rougeclaw. "but I'm gonna go check it out." He padded slowly out of the cave.

Suddenly Rougeclaw let out a battle cry and pounced on something out of sight.

Suddenly Rougeclaw reappeared limping. "Nasty beast got my leg" he said "but you should've seen the scars I gave him" he smiled nastily. He sat down and began to wash his leg.

"Yea" he said to foxpaw "I guess I scared him." He shuddered. "I don't want to talk about it." He glanced over as dewheart helped tigerspirit to his PAWS. "You need help over there?" Rougeclaw asked.

Suddenly the loner jumped down into some bushes nearby. Ravenpelt's head whipped around. "What was that?" He asked. Suddenly the loner took off. "It must be the windclan warrior!" He exclaimed. He glanced at sparklemoon. "We'll talk about this later" he hissed at her. Then the patrol chased after the too-loud breaking of undergrowth without stopping to check the scent.
